Kahawa — the Swahili word for coffee, derived from the Arabic qahwa, the original name for the sacred brew that Sufi mystics first used to sustain their nighttime devotions. Coffee was born in Africa. In the highlands of Ethiopia, legend holds that a goat herder named Kaldi first noticed his flock dancing with unusual energy after eating red berries from a certain tree. The monks of a nearby monastery brewed those berries into a drink — and the world was never the same.
Our African Kahawa Blend honors that origin. A complex medium-dark roast of bright, full-flavored African-grown coffees — hand-picked, hand-sorted, sun-dried, and processed with environmental care. Toffee, caramel, chocolate, raisins, green apples, red fruits, cherries, black currant, and a soft floral finish. This is coffee as it was first experienced: wild, complex, and alive.
